DEAFENINGGenre: alternative Location: Houston, TX Visits: 1627 | Bio/Info: Deafening stormed onto the scene in the Summer of 2005 with their smash-hit, "Herize". To say their rise to success was anything less than volcanic would be an enormous understatement. While Deafening seems to have appeared from nowhere, they assuredly have been through many tribulations to get to this point. " We lived homeless in L.A. for four months," bassist Carlos Torres states. "Yeah, I ate soggy, blue, spongebob macaroni and cheese!" vocalist/guitarist Tony Casella regrets. Deafening even went through four drummers in less than two years before finding Muttley, "This music is the shit to play!" Muttley exclaims. With the release of "Division" and third single "James Brown", Deafening has been catapulted to the top of the next rise in the music industry, and is commandeering the ship with well-deserved respect they have garnished over the years. Not to mention their relentless touring with their fellow Houston bands and national act the Deftones. Herize: A Deafening Experience is truly that.
With pounding, technical drum beats that almost make your ears bleed, enigmatic bass lines that feel are coming at you from all corners of the room, guitars that defy the ordinary standard, and haunting vocals that draw you in to the deepest realm of the inner mind, their truly are No Substitutes. And to top it all off, they're better live! With Deafening, one can truly have your cake and eat it too.
